Plans for Saturday remain the circumnavigation of Mull, with various points of interest en route which you can visit. If that’s too ambitious for some, a shorter route via the Sound of Mull to Tobermory, with an optional diversion into Loch Sunart . As ever, wind strength and direction will dictate the final plan on the day.
We aim to have the fleet back together in Tob for circa 1 pm for lunch .
We received a very kind donation from one of our regular participants, who has funded a free lunch and a drink in Tob to all crews, in Macgochans. The terrace area will be set aside for us between 12.30 and 2.30 pm, with a BBQ and bar . Link for your info. https://www.macgochans-tobermory.co.uk/ Big thank you to our donor . We will issue each boat with free lunch vouchers for all crew over the course of Friday and Saturday, logistics of that being worked on.
We have a kernel of an idea for Tob. We would like to try to set a “Raft Up Record” in Tobermory bay . All subject to weather and available time. But it could be a great drone photo opportunity for the video.
Saturday evening . There will be hospitality in Easdale hall, with inhouse catering, which will be quick, plentiful and good value . The bar will be operating in the hall. We may have live music, to be confirmed and the big screen to share any footage.
Sunday. Plans remain a short cruise with lunch at the Waypoint in Kerrera to end the organised event.
As in previous years, informal small cruises can be instigated using the WhatsApp group which will be open to all from the Friday morning for some shakedown cruises and exploring the area. Those new to area, just ask the organiser’s or regulars for tips and advice etc . About 75% of the 79 boats have joined. I appreciate social media is not for all , but it will enable quick communication of plans, so we encourage as many as possible to join it . Email will be used, but clearly patchy signals . VHF ch 77 will also be used, but again that’s not ideal if your out of range, or ashore with no hand held vhf etc. Link to join https://chat.whatsapp.com/JQTL8not20cJ2LbYlTk9GP
For some the Bank holiday Monday is another boating opportunity, last year a few of us had a great afternoon at Balfours bay on the Ross of Mull . This year somewhere south could be worth looking at , Colonsay or Tayvallich, possible destinations.
