SATURDAY

We have created 2 routes for the Saturday itinerary. You will see below we have made route recommendations based on RIB size this is advisory only (both routes are weather dependant and alternatives will be advised if necessary).

For boats <6.5m and those who would prefer a challenge in more sheltered waters you will leave Easdale and head south down the east side of Jura to Craighouse for coffee, lunch & fuel. RIBs will then head to NNE to Carsaig on the mainland. It is a 10 minute walk across to Tayvallich (village and pub) or Jamie’s Cake Box at Carsaig before returning to Easdale, a Seafari RIB (Tony) will accompany this group. Should the weather be calm the return from Carsaig will include The Gulf of Corryvreckan.

The boats >6.5m will depart first and head south, down the East side of the Sound of Jura, passing MacCormaig Isles for Ardminish Gigha, circa 37 nm. We will then stop for refreshments, with a big pontoon at Gigha so there will be lots of space. After a suitable break (fuel available) we round the south end Gigha, passing the lovely sounding Gigalum Island and Cara Island before turning west for Port Ellen, circa 19 nm.  Port Ellen will be the lunch stop, again fuel available and lots of pontoon space.

The return leg is optional subject to weather.  Either, via Craighouse Jura (15nm) and west side of Sound of Jura, to Easdale a furter 28nm. Total trip, about 100 nm, more if you divert into Corryvreckan. Alternatively, if some prefer, via the Sound of Islay passing Port Askaig (fuel available) north up the west side of Jura to Easdale (50 nm).  Total trip circa 110nm.

Aim to return Easdale for a social gathering and food in Easdale Hall/The Puffer Bar circa 18.00 hrs, meeting up with the rest of the fleet which should have returned from Craighouse earlier in the afternoon.

There will be two RIBs from the ERR Team (Douglas and James) who will be accompanying the fleet and will only be a VHF call away if you need any assistance. Boat sizes are only a guide. If you have a smaller rib and wish to do the longer route, you are very welcome, weather permitting.

** Please see safety recommendations page for required safety equipment **

This year we are making a number of changes. We are adding more emphasis to the social scene, more challenging routes, more sea miles and even more fun!
